I always recommend everyone to go out to a bookstore, preferably an independent one, and breathe in the enchanting air surrounded by books before buying one. But sometimes bookstores are far away, or we are too lazy to go out. Or the stores near you do not have the offbeat book you want.

However, I deeply, heartily implore you to visit one. Be around books, take a whiff of the intoxicating freshly pressed pages, discover topics you thought you'd never read, and explore some more. Because if we lose that, then I feel as humans, a part of us will die.

Given the necrotic plague that social media has become, we need things that connect us to Earth and ground us. Books, in my opinion, are a form of that grounding.

So, coming to the point. Boy, do I take my sweet time to get to the actual point [That's what she said]?

When you can't find a bookstore near you, or you cannot go to one for whatever reason, the online portals come to the rescue. But but but Amazon and Flipkart aren't the only ones selling books online in India neither are they the cheapest. If you cannot go to your nearest independent store….(sob sob, I wish you did, though).

Sure, Amazon and Flipkart are the easiest and sometimes the fastest options. (Damn you, one-day delivery!). Fastness is taken one step further by quick commerce apps Blinkit and Swiggy. Want a book? Well, you can have it in 15 minutes, give or take. Oh, how I wish people would book like they order their food.

Okay, okay, now I am really coming to the point.

Here is a list of alternate online bookstores that I found that are pocket-friendly. (Don't quote me on that). There could be ups and downs in prices, but generally, prices are lower than e-commerce giants. Of course, the delivery times take a minor hit. But it's okay; it makes you want the book even more. But you get merch, mystery boxes, used books and other such options, which is a good deal.

Please note that I have yet to use all of them, and experiences might vary. This is not an exhaustive list. If you know more such websites, please comment below; it will help all five readers who will read this post (Imaginary self-gut punch. Ouch).

Finally, no matter how much I want this to be a sponsored post (given the absolutely abysmal state of my appraisal. Haha), this post is not sponsored by anyone or any entity. I am not responsible if you couldn't find the book you wanted. :D
